Pale Male

Jim Gaffigan is quite pale, and he’s aware that he’s quite pale. But the pasty poster boy of white-on-white comedy hasn’t become a ubiquitous face on TV by just laughing at his unusual whiteness. His genius comes through the lens of a comedic microscope that breaks down life’s truly important issues. Like Plato, he digests high concepts — bacon, camping, hot sauce — into relatable ideas. Here’s an example: “You ever notice people that are really into hot sauce are always challenging you? ‘Hey why don’t you get the super-hot fire-engine sauce?’ Uh, because I don’t feel like superhot fire-engine diarrhea.” Jim Gaffigan will drop the knowledge on diarrhea and related topics at 7 p.m. Sunday at Hard Rock Live (5747 Seminole Way in Hollywood). Tickets cost $35 to $65, and you can get them at or by calling 954-327-ROCK.
