Monday
Funky Food Club Halloween Party
Are you someone who is interested in trying off the radar foods? Check out the Funky Food Club at Le Bistro in Lighthouse Point. The group meets once a month to sample a surprise chef's menu of four or five courses. This month, in celebration of Halloween, the restaurant is asking participants to come in costumes. The cost is $50 and attendees are asked to bring your own wine. Call 954-946-9240 by noon to reserve.
Tuesday
Feed yourself some culture with an ancient Japanese art this week. On Tuesdays, until December 11, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, The Backyard Bar is presenting karaoke. The event, hosted by Big Momma--a.k.a. Shannon Atkins--will feature all night happy hour, as well as BBQ night with hotdogs, burgers, and shrimp on the grill. Singers will have the chance to win a raffle drawing for a $25 gift certificate.
Restaurant Wars
Who doesn't like a healthy dose of competition? Check out restaurant wars at Holy Smokes American Bistro & Bar, starting every Tuesday 11 pm. Local restaurants will compete in a triathlon of events including fifty yard dash, corn hole, and pool. This is the second week of preseason, which last for eight weeks, followed by four weeks of play-offs. Restaurants will be competing for a pot at the end of the season.
Wednesday
Networking to Help Children
Drinking is fun, but its that much better when you can actually do it for a good cause. From 5:30 to 8:30 pm, at the Dirty Martini in Palm Beach Gardens, all proceeds of the event will go to this month's charity, Girl ii Women. The minimum contribution is $10, which includes one drink and complimentary appetizers.
National Food Day Forum
Want to know more about sustainability in Broward county? This Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm, at Central Broward Regional Park and Stadium, is a celebration and movement for sustainable food. The event will feature food day videos, healthy cooking and eating demonstrations by Flipany, and a panel discussion. Speakers include Christine McGoldrick of Slow Foods, Teina Phillips of TOUCH Broward Regional Health Planning Council, Michael Madfis of Fort Lauderdale Vegetables, Anthony Oliveri of Food for Health Economy Environment and Democracy (FHEED), Jon Albee of Urban Farmer, and Kimberly Prestera of Broward Schools Food and Nutrition Services.

Silver Oaks Wine and Food Pairing
We love food. And, well, wine, of course. This Thursday at Rustic Cellar Wine Bar, starting at 7:30, Silver Oak representative Jeff Flood will educate guests on his current portfolio of wines. In keeping with the California wines, food will be prepared to showcase the California fresh style. Tickets are $50 per person and should be purchased in advance, as seats are limited. Pasta, Risotto, and Gnocchi Class
Pasta, Risotto, and Gnocchi are the ultimate comfort foods. Yeah, you probably know how to make the basic spaghetti with meat sauce. If you're looking to learn how to concoct some more gourmet pasta options, Publix Apron Cooking School in Boca Raton is holding a class on Thursday.
