Order Up: Naan Bread From Usmania Restaurant

As a countdown to the Best Of Broward Palm Beach 2010, coming in May, Clean Plate Charlie is serving up a hundred of our favorite dishes in South Florida. Send your own nominations to [email protected]

No. 61: Naan Bread from Usmania Restaurant

Fluffy and doughy, pocked with beautiful char marks, the naan at Usmania Restaurant in Plantation is damned near perfect. The Indian-style flatbread used to scoop, sop, and dip into all manner of curries is so yeasty and light yet hearty and satisfying all at once. An order of naan fresh from the tandoor oven costs just $2 at the Pakistani/Indian restaurant, coated in melted ghee (and minced garlic, if you're up for it).
