Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Coffee Porter Release Date Announced

It's almost Maple Bacon Coffee porter time. It may still be a few months away, but the Funky Buddha Brewery recently announced its annual specialty bottle release and festival date.

The annual street party will take place all day and include a swarm of food trucks, special-release beers, debut tastings, and bottles of the limited-run Maple Bacon Coffee porter.

Funky Buddha Brewery's highly sought-after beer was last released January 10 at the Oakland Park brewery. It has earned national acclaim for its flavorful combination of maple syrup, fresh-roasted coffee, and salty-smokey bacon.

That includes a RateBeer.com as the number-three best porter in the world, with a score of 100 out of 100; a 100-point score from BeerAdvocate.com; and "One of Six Beers That Blew Our Minds at the Great American Beer Fesitval" by SeriousEats.com in 2013.

This year, the Maple Bacon Coffee porter will be released and packaged in 22-ounce bottles, sold exclusively at the brewery on January 10. The tap-room hours will be from noon to 10 p.m., and bottle sales will take place promptly from noon to 3 p.m. (or until the bottles are gone). Bottle pickup will take place from 4 to 7 p.m.

The bottle release will be part of a day's worth of festivities that will include food trucks with breakfast-themed pairings, live music, and multiple bars set up both indoors and out. During the daylong event, tickets will be required to purchase all beers; one $5 ticket will get you one beer.

All Maple Bacon Coffee porter sales will take place on the east side of the building next to the back parking lot. Each bottle costs $15 (a per-person limit has not been announced), and cash and credit cards will be accepted. All bottles must be purchased -- and picked up -- by those age 21 and older.
