DJ Monk

DJ Monk sure is scary. With his waterfalls of dreadlocks and tribal septum piercing, he looks like he could surely scalp you and stick your head on a spit as a sacrifice to some drum and bass tiki god. Monk got his start in the industrial Florida group Rabbit in the Moon, and he is the founder of the electronic label Hallucination Records. But he¹s also remixed artists like Sting, Limp Bizkit, Sarah McLachlan, and Britney Spears. See, told you he was scary.

But his furious DJ sets make up for it. Spinning jungle, breaks, drum and bass, hardcore house, and whatever else will get your hands in the air, Monk really is a monster behind the decks. Dammit, you have a right to be scared. Dance, you heathens! -- Audra Schroeder

Check out DJ Monk at 10 p.m. Saturday, September 25, at Sonar, 2006 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. Tickets cost $15. Call 954-920-8777.
