There's little more than a week until Dine Out Lauderdale kicks off (it starts Monday, October 1). That gives South Florida diners a little time to sort through the special three-course menus on offer at the 40 participating restaurants, which range from Hallandale Beach north to Lighthouse Point, and as far west as Weston. Roughly 75 percent of the restaurants are in Fort Lauderdale.

For six weeks, these menus will be offered at a $35 fixed price, though some of the restaurants impose blackout dates for the deal (i.e. during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show or weekend nights, etc.). Depending on the restaurant you choose, this can be a mouth-watering and memorable bargain. Or, it can be a less-than-enthralling endeavor at a so-so price.

In the coming weeks, Clean Plate Charlie will take a closer look at what's on the menu. In the meantime, take a look at who's participating in Dine Out Lauderdale 2012.
