According to a source who attended Tuesday's Cobra Starship performance featuring 3OH!3 and Travie McCoy at Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, the bands were reportedly pressured by the venue to curb their more lascivious lyrics to protect the ears of the young ticket-buyers in attendance. 3OH!3 -- you know the "Shush girl, shut your lips/ do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips" guys who made this video -- isn't subtle about taking totally meatheaded ideas and "ironically" passing them off as lyrics to pop songs. The kids who like this band knew what they were getting, and shows like these save parents the trouble of teaching their offspring what Solo cups are especially good for. All in all, kind of a stupid move by the venue staffers. Details follow.
From the 27-year-old source who felt like he was the oldest person there (aside from the moms):
"Both
3OH!3 and Cobra Starship were asked not to curse throughout the show in
their songs because of the much younger audience (most people there
were 11-16)... 3OH!3 tried to throw up the finger during their
performance, and someone came on stage to stop them (my guess is
someone from the venue?)... Same thing happened whenever they'd
curse... some guy came on stage on two separate occasions to stop them
from cursing. 3OH!3 pretty much ignored the constant organizer's
requests to 'tone down the language,' and 'make it more suitable for
the all ages crowd.'"
It wasn't all doom and gloom:
"Although the sound was a bit off, Travie McCoy has an amazing energy and really knows how to work the crowd!"
Can anyone else who attended the show corroborate this story?
