As part of a multimillion-dollar project to renovate Dania Beach Pier and the surrounding marina and beaches, city commissioners have entered into a 10-year lease agreement with Quarterdeck Restaurants.
Quarterdeck's Paul Flanigan told Clean Plate Charlie that the Dania Beach Quarterdeck should be open by late August 2012.
Flanigan described the Dania Beach Quarterdeck as a "destination restaurant," much like the famous tiki bars in the Florida Keys. "We're planting coconut palms, installing hammocks, and doing landscaping," said Flanigan.
The restaurant is part of a citywide project to renovate the Dania Beach pier, beach, and marina. The marina overhaul is expected to take a year and cost Dania Beach about $5 million.
The restaurant will also have boat slips in the marina, good for
overnight docking, as part of the deal. "We want this to be a place
where you can come by car or boat and spend the entire day -- or even
overnight -- with the family, " said the Quarterdeck partner.
The
Dania Beach Quarterdeck Seafood Bar and Neighborhood Grill will expand
on the Quarterdeck restaurant theme with a full raw bar and sushi bar in
addition to Quarterdeck's famous rib and seafood menu. The restaurant also
plans to operate beachside concessions, where families can grab
everything from sodas to sunscreen -- but no beer. "We elected not to
sell alcohol on the beach," Flanigan said.
With an expanded
Quarterdeck a stone's throw from the ocean, complete with oversized
patio and full liquor bar, starting in August a cold one will always be
only a few feet away.
