85. Linzer Torte Cookies from Croissan-Time
Hit up Croissan-Time hungry and it's easy to become overwhelmed. Should you veer toward the Saucisson Sec with Camembert from Normandie? Or stick to the baked goods with a cup of cafe au lait?
Follow your nose. Fresh baked croissants and brioche align front and center. Beignets, palmiers, and madelines fan the corner display. For the nostalgic choice, try the linzer torte cookies: petite hearts of raspberry, strawberry, or hazelnut, dusted in powdered sugar. Named for Linz, Austria, these little cookies are a mini-riff off the latticed version of the classic, thought to be among the oldest known recipes in the world.
Paired with a cup of coffee in the cafe nook, linzer torte cookies from Croissan-Time will count as your most civilized sweet of the week.
