A free turkey from a strip club. Yup.

On Monday, November 23, Cheetah in Hallandale Beach will partner with Rodriguez Charities to offer 1,000 free turkeys to South Florida families in need. At 3 p.m., turkeys will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis at the strip club, located at 100 Ansin Blvd. There is a one-turkey limit per household while supplies last.

A Marine Corps veteran and a Medal of Honor historian, Joe Rodriguez says the annual turkey giveaway is part of his mission to improve the lives of those less fortunate. “I find peace in my heart when men, women, and children walk up and merely say thank you," says Rodriguez. "It's the greatest joy of all knowing that my team and I can put this together.”

For more than a decade, Rodriguez Charities has worked with the Cheetah Clubs of South Florida to support the surrounding communities. Several years ago, founder Rodriguez decided to implement the Thanksgiving charity turkey giveaway as a regular event alongside the nonprofit's fundraising efforts, including a golf classic and poker tour. In the beginning, the giveaway was limited to 50 turkeys, which Rodriquez increased to 1,000 in 2013.

Since 2007, Rodriguez Charities has donated more than $1.5 million to various South Florida organizations, including the Hallandale Magnet High School, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, Children of Deceased PBSO, and the Broward Children's Center. Today, the charitable Thanksgiving event is one of the largest organized by Rodriguez Charities, which focuses on supporting programs and organizations in South Florida that focus on child development, health care, and veteran assistance.

The free turkey giveaway event will take place at 3 p.m. Monday, November 23, at Cheetah's Hallandale location at 100 Ansin Blvd. Visit Rodriguez Charities at RodriguezCharities.com.
