So you say you're a fan of chicken salad, but you haven't checked out Fred's Ultima Café &Market (400A Clematis St., West Palm Beach, 5616599877). For shame! OK, perhaps you can be forgiven for thinking Fred's is a health food store, 'cause it is, selling items like vitamin supplements and wheat grass. And maybe I'll cut you some slack for believing that Fred's is a juice-and-smoothie bar, 'cause it is, squeezing and crushing oranges, bananas, melons, grapes, pineapples, and strawberries on the spot. But make no mistake, this sparkling little grocery-cum-café is no vegetarian hangout, regardless of its brown rice with steamed veggies and Gardenburger entrées. Witness the five different kinds of chicken salad: dill, walnut-raisin, curry, Dijon, and chunky. It may not be Eden for the egg-layers themselves, but it's sure poultry paradise forus.
