South Florida Food and Drink Events This Weekend: Happy Hour Poker, Waffle and Beer Brunch, and Seafood Festival


Happy Hour Poker at The Brewhouse Gallery
Winning the Powerball may be slim, but the chances of winning at poker are more in your favor. Head to the Brewhouse Gallery (720 Park Ave., Lake Park) from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. for happy hour and tournament style Texas Hold'em poker. It's free to play, but there is a $5 courtesy to the dealer. Mardi Gras Casino Homebrew Beer Competition
Head to the Mardi Gras Casino trackside (831 N. Federal Hwy., Hallandale Beach) to see local brewing clubs duke it out for the best in show for home brewing. Riverwalk’s Fifth-Annual Stone Crab & Seafood Festival
Esplanade Park (400 SW Second St., Fort Lauderdale) will be hosting Riverwalk's Fifth-Annual Stone Crab & Seafood Festival. Participating restaurants include BrewFish Bar & Grill, Southport Raw Bar, Grille 401, Kelly’s Landing-New Seafood, Shuck N Dive, and more. Also present is live music, games, hermit crab races and a local craft beer garden. Dishes start at $5 and beer garden tickets are $25. There is no admission to enter. Starting at noon until 1 p.m., Riverside Market (608 SW 12 Ave., Fort Lauderdale) will be serving waffles with the beer Wild Blue. What is dubbed as the "Blue Waffle Brunch" will last until 1 p.m. Visit

Yappy Hour 
Funky Buddha Brewery (West Palm Beach Marriott, 1201 NE 38 St., Oakland Park) is in cahoots with the Coastal Boxer Rescue of Florida for a good cause. From 2 to 5 p.m., guests that donate $5 or more will receive a wristband that grants $1 off Funky Buddha drafts. Visit

Food and Wine Pairing
Bistro Ten Zero One (1001 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach) is hosting a food and wine paring showcasing five small plates by Executive Chef Christian Quiñones. The wine is paired by Jonathan Myer of Crafty Connoisseurs, who will speak about his knowledge of the wines at the event. The event is from 5 to 7 p.m. RSVP is mandatory, and admission is $45. Visit
