Perennial folk rocker and original self-mythologizing hippie, Bob Dylan, has announced a 26-date tour across the United States with Chicago-based brothers-in-roots-rock, Wilco, and the fresher-faced righteous jammers known as My Morning Jacket.

The team-up is so undeniably harmonious it is practically the peanut butter and banana sandwiches of package tours. And the tour is kicking off right here at Cruzan Amphitheatre.

And that's convenient for Pappy (a.k.a. Dylan), 'cause these days -- in between recording accidentally avant Christmas albums, falling asleep in public, and being propped-up onstage by marionetteers trained in Weekend at Bernies-style corpse revival -- that's about the only thing the septuagenarian can eat. Just make sure you cut off the crust!

All jokes aside, Bob Dylan is old as fuck! And that's probably why Wilco and My Morning Jacket want to go on tour with him. They've already hit a saturation point with the first few consumer demographic rungs (sweater-vest Gen Xers and festival circuit norms/whippit addicts, respectively), and now its time to court the Baby Boomer vote.

We have a feeling the ensemble cast will be a hit amongst anyone who can afford to go to a Bob Dylan concert in 2013. But we also have to admit that deep down we're hoping Dylan, Wilco's Jeffy Tweedy, and whoever the hell is in My Morning Jacket, are devising a stunt on par with Bobby D's unexpected amplification at the 1965 Newport Festival.

Just picture it: Hordes of tidy librarians and up-past-bedtime boomers wait in eager anticipation... but when the artists hit the stage, they all perform Skrillex-style DJ sets like they're at Ultra and they just found Molly.

Bob Dylan. With Wilco and My Morning Jacket, June 26, Cruzan Amphitheatre, 601-7 Sansbury's Way, West Palm Beach. Visit cruzanamphitheatre.net.
