The former Samba Room space at 350 E. Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale has been gutted and rehabbed for the debut of the Royal Pig Pub & Kitchen.
The Royal Pig is a project of Joe Upchurch, whose restaurants include beachfront locations of Hooters, Ugly Tuna Saloona, Lulu's Bait Shack, and Dan Marino's Town Tavern (whose Lauderdale location has closed).
A clubby décor with brick and leather accents will shape the setting, which is on track to be completed in mid-May.
Upchurch said he expects he'll need a month to hire and train staff. Clean Plate Charlie will keep you updated on chef hires, menus, and the opening date as information becomes available.
